Alternative Homemaking with a Heart of Venice and Port Charlotte are a licensed homemaker / companion service that provides non-medical assisted living services for seniors and elderly, disabled, and convalescing individuals throughout Charlotte County and South Sarasota County, Florida.

We work with the client, guardian, or family members to design a home care plan appropriate to the elder's needs. This plan is based on specific information about the individual such as medications prescribed, treatment orders from his or her healthcare provider, our staff's observations, and your personal requests. As our client's needs change, so will the care plan. If nursing services become necessary, we will refer you to an appropriate home health nursing agency.

Our caregivers are flexible and will perform needed companion services wherever an individual resides, whether that be in his or her own home, with family members, in an assisted living facility, a nursing home, or even in a hospital. Many aging persons are frail and need assistance with common activities of daily living such as meal preparation and transportation, while others suffer from loneliness and depression and simply benefit from the companionship of a caring and trained caregiver.

Alternative Homemaking is locally owned and operated. It is licensed by the State of Florida and complies with all city, county, state, and federal guidelines.

All homemakers and companions are employees of Alternative Homemaking; they are not independent contractors. All personnel are nationally screened and fingerprinted, trained, and monitored; They are also fully licensed, insured, and bonded.

The safety, comfort, and well-being of our clients are very important to us, and every effort is made to appropriately match our clients with our caregivers. We maintain direct supervision and communication with our homemakers and companions for the entire time they are on an assignment.
